Here are some compliments we’ve received in just the few months we have been open:
From “stormfront 13” on the Apex NC Forum:
“My wife and I ventured over to the Bean & Bagel cafe on Sunday morning for the first time and most certainly not the last. See, we are weekend bagelers as I like to call it and have always gone to the place across the street. It was this very board which inspired me to check out Bean & Bagel because we have always tried to be supporters of the local establishments where ever we lived. I figured I'd give it a shot once and see how it went. So here is what we ordered:
Me- Egg and Cheddar on an Everything bagel. Coffee.
She- Toasted everything with cream cheese and a latte.
To my surprise, they cooked the egg before my very eyes, no circular egg like patty thing out of a shiny metal bucket but an actual fried egg. Score one point for the B&B. Already delighted, I made my way over to the self serve coffee area where I discovered a wonderful brew named Jamacian Me Crazy with it suttle cocunut flavor (several other to choose from might I add). Score another point for the B&B. We sat down and waited for our order to be called but low and behold, our food was brought to us. Score another. Now comes the big part, the bagel itself. Being originally from New York myself (long time removed), I find that I am a little more bagel snobish than my wife. The bagel itself was big, fresh, and tasty. It wasn't very dense like the place across the street where sometimes it take quite the effort just to chew it. I found it to be incredible on the whole. I can't wait to go back!
We've found our new bagel joint and I suggest you take the chance and try it yourself, you won't be let down. Next, I need to try lunch there because after breakfast, I can only imagine how good a sandwich would be especially with that Boars Head logo on the window. Our town needs more places like this and we all need to do our part and make sure we keep places like this!
Bean & Bagel - The way a bagel place in Apex should be.”

“Bean & Bagel: We've been there a few times now and are very happy to put it on or list of places we like to go. Great bagels, variety, ingredients and price- and wonderful, friendly service
We really like the couch/ chair area as well (good luck maintaining white chairs though!)
I was also VERY happy to see real cheese and eggs prepared fresh. Very tasty. I still haven't tried the hummus but am looking forward to it.”
From “hanemecek” on the Apex NC Forum:
“Our family moved to Apex in April of last year and we had never been to the Bean & Bagel- we had heard of it but didn't know where it was. After reading this board last week I decided to find it and go there for lunch on Sunday to check it out.
I am not a bagel snob- whenever we have gone out for bagels in the past, we have always just gone to the local chain bagel place. I thought by definition a bagel was supposed to be tough & difficult to chew. I didn't know bagels could taste so good. The bagels at Bean & Bagel are so soft and delicious- and I was blown away. I enjoyed them so much that after we ate lunch I ordered bagels to go (made great sandwiches to bring to work the next day- they were still soft & delicious- could not tell they were "day old" at all!).
We ordered a pizza bagel for our 2 year old daughter, my husband had a Peakway bagel sandwich and I had chicken salad on a plain bagel. The only suggestion I would have for the lunch crowd is to increase the lunch offerings- have a greater variety of sandwiches to choose from. Both my husband and I thought the bagels were excellent and the sandwich in the middle was average. I can't wait until next weekend to go back & try breakfast bagel sandwiches!
We loved the feel of the restaurant- it was so nice to go to a unique place. It was also someplace we felt comfortable bringing our young children. The staff was pleasant and it was a great touch that they brought the food to our table. The restaurant appeared to be very well cared for & clean. (My 6 month old son got a hold of my tray and dumped my sandwich on the ground before I had even gotten a bite. Upon close inspection I saw that the floor was spotless & I employed the 5 second rule and ate it without a second thought.) They have high chairs but I did not notice any booster seats.
I think I am going to become a bagel snob if I keep eating at the Bean & Bagel
